BBQ Salmon

This BBQ salmon recipe is also easy to prepare. It can be made in advance to eat on a weeknight, or prepared in advance to serve at a dinner party. Although this recipe is relatively simple, it combines homemade BBQ sauce with delicious salmon - the perfect combination!

Ingredients

BBQ Sauce

Combine these ingredients to taste:

  • Ketchup
  • Honey
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Chili powder
  • Cayenne powder
  • Apple cider vinegar (just a dash)

Salmon

  • 4 six-ounce salmon fillets
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Pineapple chunks (optional)
  • Cooked rice (optional)

Directions

Step 1: Start by combining the various ingredients for the BBQ sauce to taste. Homemade BBQ sauce is very personal, so we haven’t included any amounts – but we recommend going easy on the apple cider vinegar to avoid making the BBQ sauce runny or too vinegar-y. Once the BBQ sauce is prepared, set it aside in the refrigerator until it’s needed.

Step 2: Pour a few tablespoons of olive oil into a non-stick pan. Place the pan over medium heat and allow the olive oil to heat.

Step 3: Lightly salt and pepper the salmon filets and add them to the hot pan. Cook the salmon for 2 to 3 minutes on each side. When you’re done, the salmon should be golden in color. While the salmon is cooking, preheat the broiler.

Step 4: Spoon the BBQ sauce over the salmon in the frying pan. Allow the sauce to simmer while the salmon cooks in the sauce.

Step 5: Place the salmon on a cooking sheet and place it under the broiler for 2 to 3 minutes. When you remove the salmon from the broiler, it should be lightly charred.

Step 6: Sprinkle the salmon with sesame seeds. Serve over rice with small chunks of pineapple.
